Organic Cotton Matters
60% of clothing sold today is made of plastic! Plastic-based fabrics, like Polyester (and even recycled Polyester), shed microplastics as they are worn and washed, leading to significant pollution in our water systems – in addition to pollution from extracting the oil and making the Polyester. Natural fibers, like cotton, biodegrade without harming the environment and are better for our skin.
Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically intensive crops in the world, using 16% of the world’s pesticides, but only covering 2.4% of cultivated land. These pesticides harm farmers, wildlife, water systems, and those living close to the fields. Choosing organic cotton ensures we are taking care of farmers, their communities, and the environment.
Companies are not required to tell you the content of their clothing thread and labels, so most won't pay the premium for organic. We don't believe in cutting corners to reduce costs. Our thread and labels are 100% organic cotton and the embroidery thread is sustainable plant-based Lyocell.
"USA Made" legally only refers to where the clothing was manufactured (sewn). Yelle Love clothing strives to be fully USA made from farm-to-shelf to reduce our carbon footprint and support our local economy. Yelle Love fabric uses USA cotton that is knit, cut, sewn, dyed and embroidered all in the USA.
